Kelly Browning, M. Ed.
Cofounder and President

Kelly Browning’s passion for quality public education began when she herself was in high school. She was a student on free and reduced lunch, who had no plan or ability to pay for college. Her teachers saw her, came alongside her, and provided her with the resources and connections required to eventually get a full ride as a first-generation college student at Texas A&M University. Public education lifted her out of the path she was set upon and set her on a new path, one with great success, hope, and life. She later worked as a teacher and district leader in various roles for 10 years within the public school system. Upon leaving the classroom, she couldn’t shake her passion for and commitment to public education, so she started Parents for Public Education alongside her fellow disruptors and advocates for public schools. She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. She is married to the man of her dreams and a proud mother of three.

Nina Lou
Secretary

Nina Lou

Wanting to pay forward all of the love and nurturing efforts from her previous educators, Nina Lou knew that her calling was in education. Despite being hungry, homeless, and hopeless at sixteen, it was public school that kept her fed, sheltered, and strong enough to break the chains of generational curses. As the first person on either side of her family to go to college, Lou continues to help other students in her classroom who are also struggling, proving to them the power of perseverance and radical empathy every single day. From her own experiences, Lou is deeply committed to ensuring all Texas children receive the same academic opportunities and quality education, serving as living testimony to the importance of public education for all. Lou is happily married, and together they have a young son who is their pride and joy.
